Disclosed herein is a method for preparing micro-fibrous hemostatic materials. Chitosan fibers having diameters of about 10 to 100 μm are impregnated in an ethanol solution of an acid (about 3 to 60 wt%) to acidify the surfaces of the citosan fibers. The acidified chitosan fibers are pulverized to obtain chitosan fibers having a length less than about 1 mm.
