A quaternary ammonium salt extracted from coconut oil and dimethylaminopropylamine. Its molecular structure consists of a basic anionic group and an acidic cationic group. Applications in cosmetics depends on pH of a solution including cleaning, foaming, wetting, antistatic, antibacterial, foam stabilizing, and thickening functions. It can reduce skin irritation of a product with anionic surfactant. Its minimal toxicity and cationic function can be used in baby cleaning and hygiene products.

 

An amphoteric surfactant has good performance in cleaning, softening, antistatic, foaming, and wetting. It can be used with range of dyes, surfactants and cosmetics. It has properties including low irritation to skin and eye, biodegradable, resistance to hard water and slowed corrosion. It can generate rich and fine foam and will reduce the irritation of a product with anionic surfactant. It has good resistance to hard water which could improve dispersing power of soap in hard water. Applications include personal care products, baby cleaning and hygiene products, textile softener, antistatic agent, wool milling agent, bactericide and disinfector, metal corrosion inhibitor, emulsifier, gelatin emulsifier in rubber industry, oil well cleanup additive, etc.
