Traits
The pineapple custard apple is a hybrid of A. Cherimola x A. Squamosa (A. Cherimola x A. Squamosa). It was bred by P.J.Wester in Florida in 1908 and is called Atemoya. Pineapple custard apple fruit is a menopausal fruit that needs to be soft-ripened before being eaten. The flesh is Q, sweet and sour, and has the flavor of tropical fruits such as pineapple, so it is called "pineapple custard apple" or "Wanglai custard apple".
